The author
I am a licensed interior designer and currently doing freelance work. I manage and supervise my projects from start to finish. I make the concept, drawings and perspectives for the initial proposal. From there, if the client approves, we proceed with the costing, detail drawings, material sourcing and the construction.
My profession gives me the opportunity to meet a lot of people from different industries. I make it my goal to provide each client with designs that fit their lifestyle and make their lives more efficient.
My experience in design includes working on retail stores, commercial spaces, restaurants and residences. My designs strive to create a good balance between form and function. More than being aesthetically pleasing, it should also be innovative and practical. Therefore, good design in my opinion, should be determined by how powerful it influences the everyday lives of the users of the space.
Well, that's what I do for a living. The other half of my life is just simple and carefree.
Photography is just one of my hobbies. I enjoy taking photos of anything that grabs my attention. Capturing candid moments is my favorite because I just love how it shows dynamism and freedom. Still life, portraits and nature are also common subjects of my photos.
I usually spend my free time with my family. We eat out at restaurants and go shopping when budget allows (haha). Sometimes, we visit our hometown and go swimming at the beach. I feel most relaxed when I'm just floating on the water, bathing in the sun and catching wind on my face.
When I'm alone at home, if I'm not making crafts or tinkering with my computer, I'm most likely singing along with my guitar. I'm not that good at playing it but I find it very calming. Just recently, I bought a ukulele and I'm trying to learn how to play it. I am fond of learning new musical instruments but it takes up a lot time and sometimes I don't get to practice and I eventually forget how to do it.
Blogging is also one of the things I love to do. I have a number of blogs, each with a different subject or topic. It's like my yoga or my exercise for releasing stress. Writing is one of my passions, even though you can tell that I'm not very good at it. That's precisely why I devote some of my time blogging because it gives me the chance to express my thoughts without the fear of being unable to reach other writers' standards.
During weekends, I go out with friends to watch movies or we just take long walks while sharing stories. These days, we seldom meet because of our busy schedules but we keep in touch through text messaging and social networks. Typical topics of our conversations are about conspiracy theories, politics, everyday work problems, tv shows, new movies, music, anime, high school days and just about anything under the sun.
Watching horror movies at home with friends is the best. I'm absolutely obsessed with ghost stories. Well, obsessed maybe a bit too much but I am just truly fascinated with paranormal phenomena and terrifying creatures. I even have a separate blog for it: deadgarlic.wordpress.com. If you're not into creepy things, better not visit it.
Dislikes. Hmm... oh well, I can make I book of things I dislike since there are too many of them. But generally, I hate disrespectful and arrogant people. I mean, common courtesy should be expected from everyone, right? Even so, there are people who lack good manners no matter how educated they are. It's a sad thing really. Especially on the road, I don't understand why there are a lot of mean drivers who just run short of consideration for others.
One thing that I care a lot about is the environment. I admire anyone who takes the extra mile to help slow down global warming. There's only so little that I can do for now but I'm glad that in the city I am in, they're banning the use of plastic bags in groceries and department stores. Of course, there are still those who do not follow but nevertheless, I think it's a huge step in lessening non-biodegradable objects from blocking dams and flood ways.
Anyway, that's all I can say about myself for now. There's nothing really special about my life but I'm trying my best to live it to the fullest. Just like Mother Theresa said:

“Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.”
