This is a renovation project of the alumni association. It's a community service project for a loyal employee of our college.
The design team is composed of two alumni designers (including me), and 4 interior design students.
The team proposed interior features that would promote an inviting atmosphere that can also address space organization and improvement of traffic paths. One solution is opening up the kitchen and dining to the living area to create a larger view of the space as compared to small sectioned areas like before. Neutral colors were used all throughout to revive the space and enhance the lighting conditions. An assortment of materials and textures were used for the flooring, walls and furniture to provide a variety of sensory experience in the space. Also, built-in cabinets were provided for appropriate storage and systematic arrangement of the owner’s personal belongings. As for the freestanding furniture, the team opted for a modular sofa and a set of small tables that can be arranged in different ways to promote the flexibility of the use of space.
