I had a very nice dream this morning. In fact, it's too wonderful that it made me feel melancholic, knowing that it wasn't true. It was too good to be true.
Dreams are confusing. It came to a point where I couldn't instantly tell which were dreams and which were real. I kept dreaming about work, meetings, email and text messages that never really existed. Lately, I've been having more vivid dreams. Some are very close to reality but there are also those about unusual reunions with acquaintances in strange places. There are even encounters with creatures I have never seen before.
There's really no telling what our subconscious mind can show us through our dreams. They are usually a combination of strange events and familiar people put together in a bizarre tale. There are dreams about adventure, everyday life and horrific incidents. Some of them are short and some of them are long. There are some dreams that happen inside another dream. You seem to wake up but you eventually realize that you're still dreaming. Some dreams even repeat more than twice on different days.
We cannot control what we dream about but sometimes, there are subtle hints that we can connect to what happened or what we've seen during the day. Sometimes, even those things that we worry about a lot become part of our dreams. They may appear in unexpected forms and sequences but when you wake up, you can tell where they might have come from in real life.
A lot of things may influence my dreams but they surely are unpredictable. Whether I have good dreams or nightmares, they always leave me with questions when I wake up. Why is my dream like that? Is there any meaning to it? It may not be impossible and there are people who think there is a meaning behind every dream. They say that it can be a premonition or it can direct us to our destiny.
I choose to believe that dreams are simply images and fragments of our memory that remind us that there are still a lot of things we don't understand about the human brain. They may mean something or they may not but one thing is for sure - no one is exempted from dreaming.
