Whose fault is it? Yours or theirs? No one would dare add "mine" to that equation. Bad things always happen because of someone else's fault. It's either your fault or their fault - not mine.
This pattern of blaming others happens constantly around the world. When something fails to happen or turns out bad, someone or something should be blamed. Many people are afraid of taking responsibility for the actions they take. Most of the times, disastrous events happen because of wrong decisions and bad judgement. From small office troubles to nationwide catastrophes, people keep on pointing fingers as to whom is to blame.
I'm not saying I've never blamed anyone before. I am guilty of the fact that there were times I became reluctant of taking responsibility for the things I've done wrong. I think it's natural human instinct to save oneself from harm or shame. However, sometimes we thoughtlessly blame others as a habit. Unfortunately, it has become an automatic response for some of us.
Pointing fingers is futile and creates greater damage in a national scale. Government sectors and citizens keep blaming each other for the destitute state of the country - the government for not doing enough and the people for not cooperating and abiding with the laws. They just continue on passing their liabilities to others and neglecting their own obligations. What happens to the real problem now? All of the energy that should be focused on solving these issues are lost in the cycle of senseless accusations.
This culture of blame is like a black hole that sucks everything around it. In the end, we are left with nothing but abandoned problems that still keep on growing while we create new ones on top of it. If only more of us can become much more dependable and sensible, maybe we can face our problems and work them out little by little.
